Care for the environment, from the architecture to the garden
Open since 2021, Casa di Langa was built to leave the lightest possible mark on the hills that surround it. Geothermal energy, a garden that feeds the kitchen, two international green programs.
The project: a building designed to consume less
Casa di Langa was designed with GaS Studio and Parisotto + Formenton Architetti and built partly into the hillside, so that the ground itself helps regulate indoor temperatures. Locally sourced stone, FSC-certified wood, Italian-made furnishings and handcrafted natural-fibre mattresses were chosen; even the outdoor fitness area is made from recycled materials.
Geothermal piping supplies heating and cooling, a biomass furnace provides hot water and photovoltaic panels generate around 20% of the electricity (in 2025), while the remaining electricity was purchased from certified renewable sources. The hotel is not connected to the gas network. The property also has 14 charging stations for electric vehicles, and the company vehicles, tractor included, are electric. It is the practical side of slow tourism. Read our latest CSR report to learn more.
Care for the land: woodland, garden and water
The estate manages over 20 hectares of woodland to protect biodiversity, with designated truffle areas, beehives along the walking trail and an orchard that grows ancient varieties using mulching and flowering essences for pollination and on-site wells to supply all the irrigation.
The garden feeds the kitchen and the spa: vegetables and herbs reach Fàula Ristorante, which mostly works with local products, while flowers and infusions reach the Lelòse Spa. Fallen branches become mulch and all of plant-derived kitchen scraps are composted on site and returned to the soil.
Recognitions for our sustainable program
Casa di Langa participates in the Green Globe program and is a Beyond Green member since 2024 and renewed in 2026. The hotel undergoes periodic independent third-party inspections that assess environmental management, social responsibility and the relationship with the local community.
The project has also received recognition outside the hospitality sector. In 2023 it was awarded an honourable mention at the Fassa Bortolo International Prize for Sustainable Architecture and the IN/Arch Prize for Piedmont; in 2024 Beyond Green Travel included it among the most sustainable hotels in the world and Luxury Lifestyle Awards among the Top 100 sustainable hotels and resorts. In 2025 Wanderlust Magazine listed it in its Travel Green List. Write to us to find out more.
